Patchwork with vintage fabrics
Hi there !
Don't know about you, but I have had quite a nice summer. Even though I did work a lot all over the spring and summer, I did spend some days resting with my family.
There are so many projects in process, that I'd better get organised !
So the first thing I did when I got back was to tidy up the studio... and I make up my mind about the main color themes for the winter. Autumn will be ..... (not telling you yet) ... Xmas will be ... red and white probably.
I have some lovely pics and a few ideas for you to come on the blog so keep in touch.
Keep up with the good work and let me know how you're doing !

My red and white patchwork cushion,
made out of bits and pieces of vintage fabrics.
If you have a little time, you're welcome on my website :

First bag !
My friend's girl is one year old. We managed to book a lunch after not seeing eachother for months. So I found myself on that saturday afternoon thinking of what would be nice to offer on the next day, Sunday lunchtime. I am organizing gifts at the last moment. At the moment I don't really have the choice, my life is like being in a high speed train all the time. So I had the choice between run to the shops looking for a gift (this would have been the reasonable thing to do) or make up something. What do you think ? Sometimes it has to be deeper than going to a toy shop..... A bit of embroidery....
And a bit of sewing... I started up after diner, and I went to bed quite late.
But the next day, everyone was ready for a walk out !

The greatest needle craft exhibition

"L'aiguille en Fête" is taking place tomorrow, until Sunday, in the Grande Halle de la Villette.
Here in Paris, it is THE exhibition for needlecraft of all sorts.
I have been setting up the Marie et Gustave booth today. It is right in the middle of the "Allée de la Brocante". This area of the show is the place where you can buy vintage fabrics and accessories for sewing and embroidery.
My own theme this year is based on Zakka trend. Of course it had to be ! The invited country being Japan, I could not resist to work on one of my favorite themes of inspiration.
If ever you are in Paris right now, you may as well step in, discover the rich world of today's needlecraft, and end up completely broke ! but with bags full of treasures ....
Here is my guest book, may some of you sign it in the next four days ...

The Chair

How could I resist ? An anusual shape for a chair around here in France. I bought it in a "vide-grenier", on a very lucky day. It was broken with an auwful brown varnish, and desperatly hoping someone would save it. Because in fact the owner had decided that if not sold, it would go straight away to the bin at the end of the day. I could tell that just by talking to the woman at the stall. It was 5 pm and I was hesitating looking at the broken legs and the huge amount of work that should be done on that chair. Especially because I had just spent two saturdays afternoon struggling on a couple of other chairs and I was tired with hopeless furnitures. She ended up saying that she was ginving it away, and suddenly I thought I needed somethting gustavian like for my exhibitions. Never mind it was not in good condition, I gave the lady a few euros and went straight on take the varnish of. Now my chair is white and proudly bearing my lastest handmade cushions.
Just a quick look to the original. I coverded the seat with an old hemp sheet.

Work and Faith
Lately I have been around posting a few pics and a few words on my french blog, but it is quiet around here isn't it ? I must admit the situation is that bad ! I would love to write and post everyday but IT IS NOT POSSIBLE. Work, work again, and sometimes spend a quiet moment with my family. No complain. Because now I really am doing what I like. No regrets AT ALL that the adventure has started up. Getting into business is not an easy challenge. Especially for a Mum of two young girls. They seem happy to see my work, piles of files and nices magazines around the house, piles of fabrics at the studio, lovely things and sents. My 7 years darling had another of her lovely words. One month after the exhibition in Paris where she had seen Mum working and chatting with customers, she suddenly said "You know, Mum, when I saw the lady at the exhibition buying things of you, I was very very impressed". Impressed is the word she used. I beleive she was proud as well. As a Mum it helps me to hear such words. It raises my faith as well.

Picture taken at work.
